The title explains it all. I wrote this poem in a time of pure angst. I have to be feeling strong emotions to feel any inspiration to write. Now, on to the poem

“Rise and Shine”

Blink back those tears
I know that they burn
It’ll be all over soon
Let your shredded heart yearn

For peace and rest
From all of this work
For around that corner
Danger does lurk

Another encounter
And this heart just might break
It’s needs are something
Nothing in the world can slake

For now’s the time
To let it all out
Make yourself heard
Scream and shout

Until you are acknowledged
For what you really are
Work a little harder
You’re not that far

From where you want to be
Relief is on it’s way
When that time comes
What will you say?

Think on your toes
No turning back now
Well, here it goes
And this is how

I say what I want
No one interrupt
It’s my time to shine
Your words can’t corrupt

What I’ve worked so hard
To build and maintain
You think it’s nothing
But this is my domain

Poetry is where I go
To get away
Hours upon hours
This is where I stay
